War Of 1812

  • Looking for data of people in Saginaw who fought in this war.  Very few records for Michigan survived.  The list of Pensioners for 1832 shows none living in the Saginaw area.  The 1840 census shows no veterans living in Saginaw Co. 
  • List of pensioners is in "Soldiers of the War of 1812, Who Died in Michigan" compiled by Alice Turner Miller 1962. Obtain book for list of records available. 
  • NOTE:  There are very few records of Michigan military records.  Only one roll of film has been found and includes only one group of soldiers.  

Mexican War 1846-1848

  • On microfiche on catalog at LDS Family History Centers to order in. FHL US/CAN Fiche 6049455 - "Michigan in the Mexican War"

  • Films in the LDS Family History Library Catalog - none found.  Looking for sources. 

 

Spanish American War May - August 1898

  • Michigan Volunteers in the Spanish American War - The 33rd Regiment contained most of Saginaw and surrounding county's volunteers. Taken from muster rolls by regiment. The muster rolls are available on film from the National Archives or at LDS Family History Centers.  Saginaw's men were mainly in the 33rd Michigan Volunteers.

Philippine Insurrection 1899-1902

  • Read here about this war.  Records for Michigan overlap the Spanish American War above. 

WWI - The Great War

  • Lists are available of all who were inducted from Saginaw County on microfilm.  Also Saginaw Co. clerk records are available at the State Archives. 

  • Doings of Battery B - 328th Field Artillery, American Expeditionary Forces Saginaw County Entries - bios and photos of men in this company.

  • Michigan In The War - being worked on. This contains all the people from Michigan that received medals for actions of bravery during this war. Many Saginaw people are included. It gives name, rank, regiment, and address at enlistment. Also included in many is a description of the act that they received the honor for and includes both USA and foreign honors.

WWII

  • Honor List - A list of those who died or were wounded from Saginaw County. Saginaw Co. contains only the Navy, Marines and Coast Guard so far.  Army records are coming. Please claim your veteran if you find one related.

Camp Custer - Citizen's Training Camp

  • List online for 1924 - Saginaw county men who trained in 1924 have their name and address with a company history and group photo of the company in which they trained in.
