Places

Swan Creek - Township was organized in 1860.  A railroad station and post office existed here in 1869.

Garfield - Began due to lumbering in 1870. A salt block was also located here. It had a railroad station and a post office that was named Eastwood.

Agnew - Post office was here in 1875.  It is marked as a flag station on the 1877 Plat Map

Cemeteries

 Carolyn's Saginaw Images Site

Garfield Cemetery No. 1 - Established in 1891 on 2 1/2 acres of Section 20.Located at Lakefield and S. Graham Rds. The cemetery is owned by the township.

Garfield Cemetery No. 2 - Established in 1949 on slightly less than 4 acres and is also on Lakefield and S. Graham Roads. The cemetery is owned by the township.

*There is a family burial plot located on the farm that at one time belonged to Edw. Hauman. This plot is in Section 8 of Swan Creek Township.

This information compiled about the cemeteries of Saginaw County was taken from a number of resources by the previous county coordinators. Some of this information was compiled by the individual township supervisors of the county in the late 1960's and provided to us by Patrick Bohinski.
