Chesaning was first settled in 1839. First called Northampton Township which was formed in 1846. All was renamed to Chesaning in 1853.

CHESANING. (Village incorporated in 1869)
A township and post village in Saginaw county, situated on the Owosso and Corunna stage route, and on the Shiawasse river, one hundred miles from Detroit, 84 by railroad and 14 by stage; fare $2.90. It contains a population of 600. One Methodist and one Baptist church; two dry goods stores, several mills, mechanic shops, etc. It has 6 mails per week. Postmaster--Reuben W. Andrews.

Parshallburg (Havana) This village started around a grist mill in about 1887. Some listing show it in Shiawasee Co. but the maps and other listings have it in Saginaw.

Wildwood Cemetery
This large cemetery of 31 1/2 acres located on Sharon and Ferden Roads. The cemetery is divided into three parts by two roads. The burial records are held by the township.

Mt. Calvary Cemetery Located on 4.8 acres on Section 21, South Sharon Road. The cemetery is owned by Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. The church was established in 1891.
