  • Pierre Bonga was a freed slave of Capt. Robertson of Mackinac Island. Had several children who became famous in the fur trade era in WI and MN and intermarried with Ojibwe Indians in Cass Co and the Duluth area..

  • I am looking for information on John GILCHRIST one of the first settlers to the area. I understand the town of GILCHRIST, Mackinac County was named after John. I am also looking for Neil GILCHRIST b. abt 1846 in Canada West who lived in the town of Bay Mills, Mackinac County about 1881. Any assistance or direction would be appreciated
