ROSES FOR THE LIVING

                                          Mr. and Mrs. William Nicholson

Above are Mr. and Mrs. Wm. B. Nicholson, whose names you will often see in the items

of news from Broomfield in the Messenger, indicating that they are popular people among

the folks down there.

Will has always been a nature lover, as the grounds of his old home, the James Nicholson

place, attest.  Things just seem to grow for him, and the farm where he has been in charge

since his marriage, bears ample proof of his love for growing trees and flowers.

Landscape gardening and producing of the choicest of Gladiolii are his hobby.  Many

shrubs and flowers beautifying homes and gardens throughout the county, Central State

Teachers College, and various places throughout the state are products from his gardens.

His flowers are welcome gifts in many sick rooms.

Mrs. Nicholson also loves plants, and we are watching their farm with a good deal of

interest to see what will blossom forth next.  The latest additions in the tree line are tulip

trees and dogwood.

Will was born at Morrice Jan. 20, 1891.  The family came to Isabella county in Novem-

ber, 1895, when the village of Weidman was just starting, the father, James, homesteading

an 80 north of Beebe’s Mill.  They made several moves after that in Sherman and finally

settled on the farm in Broomfield that is still their home.

Will was married Dec. 12, 1929, to Mrs. Anna Leuder,  Mrs. Nicholson has had just two

homes during her life—the farm in Deerfield where she was born and raised, and the farm

she now lives on.

We welcome these new additions to our “Roses for the Living,” and hope we may be

favored next summer with more Bouquets of flowers from their ample and beautiful

Grounds.
