ROSES FOR THE LIVING

                                                     George W. McClain

The genial gentleman, whose smiling face you see pictured above, was born in Union

Township, Isabella County about 33 years ago.  He is our progressive Chevrolet Dealer,

George W. McClain.

At the age of nine years George, with his parents, moved to their home in Sherman

Township.

In May 1925 he went to Flint and obtained employment in the Service Department of

the Chevrolet plant where by hard study and practical experience he secured a thorough

knowledge of automobile servicing and repairing.

In March 1926 he married Peggy Pridgeon, a former schoolmate of Sherman Township.

They lived in Flint until July 1930, when they moved to Sherman City and George opened

up a small repair garage.  Within a few months his business had grown to the point where

it was necessary for him to have larger quarters and he moved into the Hampton Garage

which he still occupies.

In addition to his service garage he now has the Gamble Store agency and the Chevrolet

Dealership, and with the help of his team-mate, Peggy, he is making great strides towards

the success which he deserves.

George is a public spirited citizen and is always willing to do his bit in promoting any

move for the betterment of our community.

Let’s give a hearty cheer to George and his helpful wife, Peggy.
