Free Estee

It was no surprise when the news flashed over the wires Wednesday evening from Canada, where he had been for several months, that Free Estee is dead, as it has been known for a long time that he was steadily and surely failing. For more than a year he was ill at his home in this city, and last spring, in hopes a change would benefit, he and his wife went to the old home of Mrs. Estee in Ontario, but he gradually grew worse, until it was necessary to commit him to a private asylums at which place he died. The remains reached this city this morning and the funeral will probably be held today.

Mr. Estee has been identified with business interests of this city for years, and he was numbered among the most prosperous and energetic ones until his health began to fail a few years ago, and his mind began to waver over troubles imaginary and real. He was an able attorney, and began the practice of law in Greenville, Ohio, and came to this city in 1881. He was associated with S.W. Hopkins for a time, and later with H.A. Sanford, but for the last several years has been alone. He has been a member of the legislature from this district, a justiceof the peace, school examiner, and school inspector.
He was born in Coe Township December 12, 1856, making him in his 41st year.

Funeral was held at the Mt. Pleasant residence conducted by Rev. Vanarman, Presbyterian minister.
