Aged Resident Dies Following Long Illness.

Mrs. Marian Struthers, Early Settler, Passed Away Tuesday

Mrs. Marian Augusta Struthers, 82, died at the rural home of her daughter, Mrs. William Myers, Tuesday afternoon, June 1, at 1:30 o’clock following an illness of more than three years. Her condition changed for the worse about ten days ago.

Mrs. Struthers had been a resident of the Shepherd community for more than 60 years, having come with her husband from Ingham county in 1874.

She has resided with her daughter since last September.

Marian Augusta, the daughter of Elmer and Mrs. Agnes Graham Lacey, was born in Mason, Ingham county, Oct. 17, 1754 (1854?). She was wedded to James Struthers in 1873, coming to Salt River the following year. To this union, nine children were born, four of whom preceded her in death.

Surviving are three daughters and two sons, Mrs. Agnes Myers of Shepherd; William Struthers of Outlook, WA; Mrs. Flora Hutchinson of Forest Hill; Archie Struthers of Connell, WA; and Mrs. Anna Oswald of Pleasant Valley. One daughter, Mrs. Carl Girven, died Nov. 2, 1936. She also leaves two sisters, one of whom, Mrs. Anna Kroll of Spokane, WA. Visited her only two weeks ago.

Coming to this community Mr. & Mrs. Struthers located on the farm southeast of the village where they resided many years.

Funeral services will be held from the Hass Funeral home with Rev. W. H. Bell of the Church of Christ officiating. Interment will be made in the Salt River cemetery beside her husband who died in 1924.
