Due to the amount of information in most of these weddings, I am only listing the date of marriage or newspaper date (nsp) and names.  Some go into great detail in setting, gowns, decorations,  etc., and do not feel this is necessary for genealogy

Miss Lillian Jackson and Mr. Noah Good were married by the Justice Russell, both are from Shepherd.

HAPNER - TAYLOR

December 15, 1916

 

Carl C. Hapner of Freemont twp. and Miss Teresa L. Taylor of Mt. Pleasant were married at the Methodist parsonage.  John Smith and Miss Ada Taylor attended the couple.  They will reside near Winn.

GOULD - McNAUGHTON

June 7, 1916

 

Blanche D. McNaughton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. McNaughton, and Walter Reec Gould, both well known residents in the vicinity of Coe Village were married by Rev. Curch, at Lake View,  formerly pastor of the church at Coe.

Married at the Christian parsonage were Russell Teagarden and Miss Veda Bohannon, by the Rev. J. W. Kimberling.

February 3, 1916

 

Nina Wright, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wright of Coe twp., and Stanley Leonard of Coe twp. were married at the home of the bride's parents in Coe twp. on January 29 th.   The couple will make their home in Coe.

LEONARD - CULVER

Feburary 3, 1916 (nsp)

 

Cecil Leonard and Ruth Culver were married at the Christian parsonage by the Rev. Kimberling.  Both young people reside in Southeast Coe.

GIMMEY -  DIVELBISS

February 1, 1916

 

Miss Margaret Gimmey and Forest Divelbiss were married at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Gimmey, by Rev. I. W. Kimberling.

They were attended by John Gimmey, brother of the bride, and Mrs. Nellie Wilkie, sister of the groom.

Out of town guests were:  Mr. and Mrs. Dan Wilkie,  Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Duffy, and Mr. and Mrs. John Gimmey of Mt. Pleasant;  Mr. and Mrs. Christle of Coomer, and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Divelbiss of Forest Hill.

ASHWORTH - WORTHINGTON

February 24, 1916 (nsp)

 

Dale Ashworth and Miss Marguerite Worthington were married at the Christian parsonage.  They were accompanied by Miss Galah Johnson and Mr. Harold Fickle.  Both young people are lifelong residents of Shepherd.

Mr. Ashworth is the oldest son of Postmaster Ashworth and will be teaching this winter in one of the rural schools of this township.

CRAWFORD - CHAPMAN

August 21, 1916

 

Miss Frances Alice Chapman, daughter of Mrs. Nellie Chapman and Edmund Alan Crawford of Rosebush, were married at the home of the bride's mother, on Franklin Street by the Rev. J. T. Bridwell.

Mr. and Mrs. Crawford are both graduates of the Normal, the former completing his course in 1913 and the latter graduating the first of the present month, having been teaching the past year in Clare.

They will be making their home in Rosebush.

August 17, 1916

 

Sydney Z. Morton and Miss Sarah Butah were married at their own home, which they have recently fitted up on S. Washington St., by the Rev. James Pinckard.

Ethel M. Coon and Norville C. Landis were married at the Christian parsonage by the Rev. I. W. Kimberling.

George Wilson and Miss Florence Mull, both of Lincoln twp. were married by the Rev. Joseph H. Green at the Presbyterian manse.  They were attended by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wilson.

The couple will make their home on a farm near Rowlader's Corners.

MacARTHUR - GIMMEY

October 5, 1916

 

Perry MacArthur and Miss Le(missing) Gimmey, both of Denver twp. were married at the Presbyterian manse by Rev. Joseph H. Green.  They will resided in Denver twp.

HARKINS - FRENCH

March 22, 1916

 

Miss Alta French and Mr. Earl Harkins, both of Chippewa were married at the Baptist parsonage.  They were attended by Miss Ethel Roberts and Mr. E. Chivington.

The couple expect to leave this week for Dexter, near Ann Arbor, and will take charge of Mrs. Harkin's farm.

FISHER - ROETHLISBERGER

June 15, 1916 (nsp)

 

Mr. Earl Fisher of Chippewa and Miss Anna Roethlisberger were married at the home of the bride in Lincoln by the Rev. C. E. Davis.

Charles Roethlisberger, brother of the bride and Hazel Fisher, sister of the groom, were the attending parties.

They will be making their home on a farm in Chippewa.

VON MORNINGSTAR - SWIX

March 23, 1916

 

Zelatus Von Morningstar and Miss Erma Swix, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Swix, were married at the Christian parsonage by Rev. Kimberling.  They were accompanied by Seymour Dersnah and Miss Florence Townsend.

Miss Swix is a resident of Shepherd and Mr. Von Morningstar is one of the managers of the canning factory at Shelby, where the young couple will be making their home.

CARPENTER - YOUNG

(no date other than 1916)

 

Chester Arthur Carpenter, for the past few years a member of the Alma Journal force and Miss Lelia Young, a well known lady who lives near Shepherd were married at the St. John's rectory, by the Rev. J. Frank Jackson, pastor of the church.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Young, prominent farmers living near Shepherd, and for the past couple of years has been a resident of Alma.  The groom is a former New York State resident, but for the past three years has held a good position with the Alma Journal.

They will make their home in Alma.

Mr. George Bowman and Miss Lillian Goffnet, both of Lincoln twp., were married at the M. E. parsonage by the Rev. James Pinckard.  They were attended by Flossie Fern Goffnett, sister of the bride, and Andrew Kirkconnell.

They will reside in Lincoln twp.

Miss Mabel Walters and Elton Miller were married at the M. E. parsonage in Mt. Pleasant, by the Rev. Buell.

Mr. Miller is in real estate and insurance business with his father.

MOENING - CURTISS

January 15, 1916  (nsp)

 

Miss Eilah C. Curtiss and Frank Moening were married at the Catholic church by Father Mulvey.

They were attended by Miss Lena Moening, sister of the groom, and James R. Curtiss, brother of the bide.

A dinner was served at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Curtiss.

Mr. Chester V. Rultz of Lansing and Miss Cleo Bernice Bronson of Shepherd were married at the Methodist parsonage by Rev. C. E. Davis.  They were accompanied by the bride's sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Rench of Lansing.

They will make their home in the capitol city.

Miss Louine Lyons and Mr. Raymond Slates were married at the home of the bride's parents in this village by the Rev. Kimberling.

The couple will make their home in Flint where Mr. Slates has employment.

CARTER - HORTON

August 10, 1916

 

Miss Pausine Horton of Riverdale and Thomas B. Carter of Shepherd were married in Alma by Fr. Nimrickter.

They will be making their home at the George Wetherbee residence.

Mr. Carter came here a few months ago and is engaged in the veterinary business.

Mr. Clyde Reed of Owosso and Miss Grace Fosgett of Mt. Pleasant were married at the M. E parsonage by Rev. G. A. Buell.

Mr. Reed is employed as machinist in the car shopes located in Owosso.

Mr. William Davis and Mary Bohannon were married by Rev. C. E. Davis at the Methodist parsonage.  The attending parties were Mr. and Mrs. Claude Anthony.
