John C. Rowden came to Bay County, Michigan in 1855 and married Miss. Alice Moore who died in 1870. His second wife was Miss. Selina Gilbert of West Bay City, Michigan.  John C Rowden served three years in the Civil War in Company F. 23^rd Michigan Volunteer Infantry.  He was wounded at Allatoona, Georgia and at Franklin, Tennessee.  He was honorably discharged June 28, 1865.
