According to Mr. Watson in an email data 02-23-10 "I believe that ‘Oa-At-Ka’ was a local (Bay City) spelling of oatka or o-at-ka spelled this was and is an Seneca Indian word meaning “Queen of water”.  Oa-At-Ka Beach preceded Wenona Beach and I believe both were preceded by Reservation Beach.  There is a connection with Bay Shore Hotel as it was a stopping point - a hub to either Paralon Park, Wenona Beach and probably Oa-At-Ka.  Propritor of Bay Shore Hotel was John Rabior original architect of Wenona Beach.  That’s why I’m trying to find out more about Bay Shore Hotel.  I currently have two photos from two views, plus there was mention of it in the refrigerator journal as they harvested ice from bay and stored it in early ice boxes first developed and used by owners of Bay Shore Hotel, Bay City, MI. (circa 1910)." Please see his book on Wenona Beach available at the Bay County Historical Society.
