1ST CL. PVT. HARRY GOWARD Serial No. 2,026,568 Breckenridge, Mich. Goward was assigned to the Battery November 20, 1917. He was one of the largest men in the outfit, giving the Supply Sergeant considerable trouble in clothing him. His feeling toward Battery B is shown through a remark of his own. Having been ill and at the Base Hospital, he was saved from being transferred to Camp Pike on December 17th. When he heard his name had been on the list, he said: “It was a good thing that I was sick.” Goward became a member of the “Vengeance Nine,” having received a course in Machine Gunnery at Coetquidan.
